Myth Busters: 7 Myths Common to Teen Girls Busted By the Word of God

Myth: “God Is Not Enough” (a.k.a. boyfriends, beauty, or popularity equals happiness)

Busted: God Is All We Need

“Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.” (Psalm 73:25)

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)

Myth: “I’m Not Powerful Enough to Fight Satan”

Busted: Satan’s Powers Are Insurmountable to God’s

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” (Ephesians 6:16)

Busted: Success Is Found In Being Who God Wants You to Be

The character qualities of the “Virtuous Woman” in Proverbs 31 (vs. 10-31):

-She’s trustworthy

-She’s hardworking & works with her hands

-She’s thrifty (spends money wisely)

-She’s concerned with the needs of others

-She’s physically strong (not lazy)

-She’s a perfectionist (takes pride in her work)

-She’s a giver

-She’s respectful of older women & wants to learn from them

-She’s more concerned about her walk with God than her outward appearance

“…the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” (Titus 2:4-5)

Myth: “I’m My Own Boss”

Busted: Authority Is God’s Protection

“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews 13:17)

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee…” (I Samuel 15:23)

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty…” (I Timothy 2:2)
